Mana Lomi Hawaiian Massage

Mana Lomi is a traditional style of Hawaiian Massage developed by Kumu Maka'ala. Passed down from kumu (teacher) to kumu, this style was taught to me by Carol Hart, who lived on the land and was taught by his mentees.

The practice works with the mana, or life force energy, utilizing deep, slow, soothing strokes that resemble rhythmic motion of the ocean tide.

Unlike relaxation modalities, this practice utilizes precise thumb, palm, knuckle, and elbow pressure to communicate through the soft tissue and release restrictions right at the bone and attachment level.

For me, Mana Lomi is a dance, connecting and attuning deeply to what the receiver needs, engaging in a reciprocal exchange of energetics.

While I have not yet completed Mana Lomi 2 to become a Certified Lomi Practitioner, I embody the nature of this practice and integrate it in to my own style of massage.

Intuitive Bodywork - the art of slowing down and actively listening

So much of my bodywork practice involves slowing down enough to effectively communicate with and release the fascia.

Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds your muscles, bones, organs, and nerves in your body. You can think of fascia as a spiderweb; manipulating one area of fascia causes the entire structure to shift and move in accordance. This is why clients may experience referred pain when manipulating an area seemingly far from the point of contact.

Slowing down allows the muscles to respond to the pressure and energy of my body. My favorite area of fascia to manipulate is that surrounding the sub-occipitals, or the small muscles that lie deep to the inferior aspect of the skull and connect to the first two vertebrae.

While my pressure can enter the firm - deep range, I often allow the body create the adjustments. Even a simple hold allows the fascia to respond and release in the way it needs to. This is the potent medicine of intuition.

Oracle Deck Reflection

Where ritual meets bodywork

Have you ever wanted your massage to be more expansive than just receiving hands on adjustments?

I invite you into practice of attunement, embodiment, and reflection, through engaging with oracle deck wisdom. We can begin our time with a reflection on what is present for you, providing the space for expression before connecting with the deck. The card you pull is meant to evoke a question or curiosity that I will invite you to self reflect on during our session.

As it usually goes, you will melt into the table shortly after. Don’t worry about remembering because I will bring you back to the original intention as we near the end of the session. I find that when the body has opened itself up, it is more receptive and inquisitive to diving deeper.

Once you are off the table, there is time for reflection and space to be held if desired.

Sound Healing:

Tuning Fork Attunement

- Allow calming frequencies to guide your session -

Often times our holding patterns, trauma, and tensions can disrupt the human biofield. I have found that the tuning forks can sense the pathological oscillations, or energetic disruptions in the field and work to interject or mediate these frequencies.

You have two main distinctions between tuning forks: weighted and unweighted. The weighted tuning forks are intended to make contact with the bony landmarks or tissue of the body, carrying frequencies that permeate through all systems of the body. The unweighted are intended for the energetic space above and around the body, clearing “stuck-ness” or unconscious holds.

54.81 Hz Weighted and 62.62 Hz Weighted:

When played together near the ears, the 54.81 HZ and 62.64 HZ produce binaural beat of 7.83 Hz, which is the frequency known as the Schumann Resonance. This is defined as the Earth’s natural electromagnetic hum.

174 HZ, Unweighted:

A sound healing tool tuned to the lowest Solfeggio frequency. Practitioners use it near the body’s energy field to promote grounding, relieve physical tension, and create a sense of safety and security.

Energetic Frequencies:

Hot stones

Hot stones allow your tension to soften before you recognize your holding patterns. As warmth meets the body, muscles begin to release, the breath begins to deepen, and thoughts tend to move inward.

I suggest adding hot stones if you:

  • are seeking deeper relaxation

  • generally have a harder time letting go

  • are craving warmth, grounding, and a deeper relationship to your sensations

  • are in need of nurturing, restorative, care

“As I understand the concept of chi, (or ki, as it’s called in Japanese, it’s not just energy. It’s really an intelligent energy, with consciousness attached to it.

In Eastern philosophy, they’re thinking about an energy field around the body, but it’s not just physical electromagnetic or biophotonic fields, it’s imbued with mind. Its something much more profound and not quite a part of Western Science” - Beverly Rubix
